Where our human hair comes from — and how to verify it
A transparent guide to the origin, manufacturing, and quality checks behind every strand of Asas Altfrud hair.
Where do human hair extensions come from?
Genuine Remy human hair is sourced from donors in India, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Central Asia. Ethical suppliers pay donors, keep the cuticle aligned in a single direction, and bundle hair by texture and length before it leaves the country of origin. This aligned, single-donor stock is what the industry calls "virgin Remy" — the highest quality tier.
Every Asas Altfrud batch is traceable to its source workshop. We do not blend synthetic fiber, animal hair, or re-processed "fallen" hair into our bundles.
How are human hair extensions made?
- Collection. Ponytails are cut with the cuticles aligned root-to-tip and tied at the root end.
- Sorting. Hair is separated by length, texture (straight, wavy, curly), and thickness.
- Cleaning. A mild acid wash removes residue without stripping the cuticle.
- Coloring (optional). Low-ammonia dyes preserve elasticity for pre-toned shades.
- Wefting or tipping. Bundles are hand-tied into wefts, or tipped with keratin for tape-in, flat-tip, i-tip, nano, and micro-ring applications.
- Quality control. Each bundle is weighed, re-checked for cuticle alignment, and packaged.
How to verify 100% human hair
- Burn test. A few strands should burn slowly, smell like burnt hair (not plastic), and leave grey ash — synthetic melts into a hard bead.
- Cuticle direction. Run fingers up and down the strand. Remy hair feels smoother in one direction; non-Remy feels equally rough both ways.
- Heat & wash. Human hair tolerates flat-irons up to 180°C and holds a curl after washing. Synthetic loses shape under heat.
- Weft inspection. Hand-tied wefts show individual knots. Machine wefts are tight but uniform. Fraying, shedding, or glue residue indicates low quality.

Five textures. Two grades — Signature and Reserve. Every bundle is 100% Remy human hair, single-donor where possible, traceable to workshop, and inspected in Riyadh before it reaches a salon or distributor.
